Foster or Adopt

Foster

As there are more horses in need than we can accommodate at a time we are fortunate to have friendly horse people willing to foster some of our animals on their property. All our foster homes are vetted and monitored and care for our animals to our high standards. If you are interested in fostering one or more of our animals please email Rhonda (beginagainfarm@aol.com) with details about your property.

Adopt

If you are looking for a horse, consider one of our many adoptable horses.

We have animals of different ages, breeds, size and training levels. All of them deserve a forever home.

Adoption Process

  1. Fill out our adoption application. You can mail it, email it, send it through Facebook or bring it to the farm personally.
  2. Set up a time to come out to the farm with Rhonda (706) 315-6945.
  3. Select a horse that suits you – or even better let a horse choose you.
  4. Come out and spend time with your future horse. This time is meant to assure both you and us that you and your horse are a good fit and will be happy together. There is no set time frame for this as every horse/owner pair is different.
  5. Sign the adoption contract and pay the tax deductible adoption fee.
  6. Take your horse home. You now co-own your horse with Begin Again Farms Inc. In this time frame you can not sell or breed the animal and need to inform Begin Again of any move.
  7. After 18 months your horse belongs to you alone.

Adoption FAQ

  • Why can’t I take my horse home right way? Many of our horses have been through a lot. We need you to spend time with the animal in their familiar environment to ensure you are a good fit and the horse isn’t taken out of their home just to come back a few weeks later.
  • Why do you co-own the horse for 18 month? This is for the horses protection. It reduces the risk of our animals landing in kill shelters and slaughter facilities as well as being resold too quickly. We are looking for forever homes for our horses and even though we know this won’t always be possible we want to ensure they at least don’t lose their new home right away.
  • Can you simply take the horse back from me during the 18 month period? No. We can only take the horse back if you break the adoption contract, neglect or abuse the animal.
